About

Teiresian is a trans, queer-led micro press established in March 2023, for the celebration of community and art without restraint.

Named after the Ancient Greek prophet Teiresias, Teiresian (ty-ree-see-uhn) is an invented word meaning ‘of Teiresias’. We come from a long line of transformation and magic. Our beauty is built from the things about us that are gruesome and humiliating, tender and raging, funny and ridiculous. Our first priority is always supporting trans artists and writers — from ensuring that we pay every contributor to promoting and supporting all the artists we’ve worked with long after the end of a project.

The first issue of Teiresian magazine, Germination, launched on 4th May, 2024, and is available for purchase on our shop. Germination is hand made, printed and bound by Bracken Books. Entirely risograph printed with a beautiful digitally printed dustcover and debossed image of our logo on the front cover, pages filled with art by a diverse range of talented trans and queer artists, Germination is all we could hope for in a first issue. This issue was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Our first poetry collection was released on 28th April, 2025, and copies are available on our shop. mouthfuls of kisses is a tender collection of poetry by isaiah, a skilled young trans poet. Illustrated, printed and bound by hand, each copy has been created with great care.

While you’re waiting for our next project, you can peruse the website and take a look at our Instagram for regular updates and behind the scenes. For our online publication, sharing work by fantastic trans writers every month, check out our Substack.

Our submissions open on an irregular basis, dependent on funds and how many submissions we’ve had in the last window. If you’re interested in sending us your artwork or writing, please head to the ‘Submissions’ page for more information.
